Thirteen-year-old Ella Longworth is holding a yard sale with an even greater purpose than raising money for her own wants, she’s helping to make ends meet for her parents who are hearing disabled. Her family relocated to Imperial, Missouri in search of a safer neighborhood for their family but the transition has been a challenge for them.
“A lot of people say I’ve grown up really fast for my age,” says Ella Longworth, who has lived life as the ears and voice of her parents. “It’s been really tough my whole life, sometimes I just can’t take it and sometimes when I come home I just feel all upset,” Ella says.
It may seem like Ella can’t have much time for herself, when she’s taking on so many other duties, but she says her one comfort is a notebook that she keeps with her all the time — and uses it to write songs for a band she wants to start someday.
