Designing pieces has always been calling for DesAnn Collins and she certainly has built an impressive resume for herself. DesAnn is a certified interior decorator, while being a featured designer at the Cleveland Home & Garden shows celebrity showcase for seven years. She has managed to secure herself a spot on local NBC, ABC and FOX TV channels. I had a chance to talk to DesAnn about a few of her features from her previous projects.
DesAnn: “Item#1 is an ottoman that I actually got for FREE at a rummage sale that had just ended and they were taking it to the curb! The gold was a runner for a table that I bought on clearance for $1.00. I had the Zebra fabric & the Blk fringe already.
It was used in an African/Jungle inspired theme space.”
DesAnn: “This old Dining chair was purchased at an Oberlin Ohio Garage sale. It was $19.00.
I wanted a feminine line simple chair that I could reupholster in a masculine print often found in mens suits. I used Glenn Plaid fabric and a purse handle with chrome buckle as the trim. Purse purchased at 2nd hand store. I used it again in a Designer showcase feature room.”
DesAnn: “I have purchased these in several sizes at Garage, Rummage & Estate sales. They are sticks from Bamboo blinds. I take them apart, very slowly as they can be very thin. I have paid $1 to $10 for 2ft ones to 6 ft ones (patio doors).
I use these in several kinds of accessory situations. I Stage at least 100 homes a year and I like the “drama” these sticks can add to my table-scapes.”
Wow, those are really amazing! I can see why you have excelled in your career; there is definitely a lot of talent within your pieces. You can find DesAnn Collins at www.DesignByDesAnn.com, where you can see more of her pieces. Happy Thrifting and Decorating, everyone!
