Garage Sales – They’re definitely a more popular and growing trend among families and individuals of all income levels during this 2009 recession, but whether you’re cleaning out your attic looking to pocket some extra change or organizing a “lifestyle liquidation” for some more serious cash, garage sales are ripe for buyers. Depending on how many sales are taking place in a particular neighborhood, buyers may have choice over more common items and will have an easier time haggling to get the best deal.
There is also a great opportunity for sellers; The market is flooded with frugal shoppers and tag sale enthusiasts hoping to save money on items they could normally purchase at the store for double, triple or more. Seller’s should remember that to get the most for your items you should present your items well. Make sure they’re clean, in good condition and priced fairly. When haggling with buyers let them know that you are serious about getting a certain dollar amount for particular items. Let buyers know that if those items have not sold by a certain time of day, they can return later in the day and get them at the price they’re willing to pay.
It’s time to make some garage sale deals happen! The next time you’re out shopping for a quick fix for something around your home or looking to save money on gifts, get creative and see what treasures you can find at a nearby garage sale!
