Whether shopping a flea market or consignment shop, I advise shoppers to keep in mind that items are often not returnable at places selling second hand goods, so try to avoid anything that is size specific, like a woman’s
blouse. Stephanie recommends you shop for one size fits all type gifts. Clothing consignment stores are great places to shop for a lovely scarf, mint condition handbag, necklace or other accessory as long as you know the person’s taste. Home decor is often sold at furniture consignment stores as well as flea markets and estate sales. When shopping for gifts look for stylish small accessories such as candlesticks, small wall decor, bookends or nice antique picture frames.
Simple baskets and stylish hat boxes are the beginning of a great gift.
Find them anywhere from antique malls to flea markets and fill them with
items selected by you. For example, the scarf or small handbag you found at the consignment store or flea market would fit in nicely with the hat box
and home decor items such as vintage frames or interesting glassware works nicely with the decorative basket. Don’t forget about second hand
bookstores when shopping for gifts. Some second hand bookstores sell a wide selection of new or like new books so you can find a book that matches the interests of a special someone on your gift list.
