Flea’s annual holiday market partners with Design*Sponge for special shopping events, decorates holiday tree with vendor items, adds recycled-fabric gift-wrap station and special new vendors, now Brooklyn’s largest.
With more than 100 vendors on three floors for nine straight days in Brooklyn’s most majestic event space, Skylight One Hanson, Brooklyn Flea’s third annual Gifted holiday market has emerged as New York City’s premier shopping destination for cute, cool, and classy presents. The former Williamsburg Savings Bank, with its 60-foot cathedral ceilings, magnificent mosaics, and intimate lower-level vault, is the perfect setting for a festive public market on a grand scale. Gifted will take place from Wednesday, December 15, through Thursday, December 23, from 11am to 7pm daily.
From fancy foodstuffs to eclectic electric typewriters, from Parisian soap to Victorian picture frames, from Buffalo Nickel money clips to stuffed stitched owls and human-heart necklaces, and from locally made toys to antique gumball machines, Gifted is one-stop buying for the discerning eye. Throw in a giant holiday tree decorated with vendor items for sale, a gift-wrap station using recycled fabric, after-work shopping parties with free Brooklyn Brew Shop homebrew, and fresh pastries and apple cider all day long, and you’ve got an oasis of civility in a holiday desert of doldrums and dissonance. A complete list of vendors with photos is available at http://www.brooklynflea.com/gifted.
To further establish Gifted as New York’s top holiday market, the Flea is running advertisements in targeted Brooklyn and Manhattan subway stations, and proudly partnering with Design*Sponge, http://www.designspongeonline.com, the nationally-renowned Brooklyn-based home-decor blog. Design*Sponge will be presenting a series of interactive events highlighting Gifted vendors where participants take home a handmade gift at the end. The three events will include a chocolate and coffee tasting; a terrarium-building workshop; and a floral-arrangement how-to with Design*Sponge editor and florist Amy Merrick, using vessels purchased at Gifted. Event dates and details will be announced soon.
In the coming weeks, Gifted will also announce this year’s local charity partner, which will receive a portion of the market’s proceeds.
