If any of you have college students in your family or you are a college student, you know how expensive College can be and not just in terms of tuition. It seems that the schools find every way they can to strain your budget. One way they like to do this is trying to get you to sell the books at the book store. University Bookstores are often quite expensive and can rack up a lot of money even if they are not for a class with text books. I like to imagine it goes something like this:
Business Person A: And so we will sell their books to them at ridiculous prices!
Business Person B: Bravo
*All laugh*
Now, I can’t blame the bookstore, but it still can be quite expensive. As an English and a Women and Gender Studies Major, a lot of my classes require a lot of books and those can be equally as expensive as a class with one book. I recently went shopping for some of my school books at a Second Hand Shop in order to save money. My Shakespeare class books would have cost 112.50, while buying it at the Second Hand shop cost 14.94. See? Much cheaper.
No for real – ask your grandpa – can I have his books?
So, when you are going to buy your books for school, think about using a Second Hand store. It will cost you much less money and you could always be helping out a local business!
