Lise Desormeaux has been the owner of a luxury home staging company since 2002. In 2007 she founded a second business offering do-it-yourself rich media products. The flagship product is a DVD called ‘Home Staging 101.’ Many people can’t afford to hire a decorator and are looking at ‘how-to’ options to quench their decorating thirst. Lise offers many tips and recommendations about second-hand options and reusable products. This year she adds 7 additional do-it-yourself DVD’s for the home staging & decorating beginners who want to learn how to decorate their home either for sale or for living a simpler, clutter-free lifestyle.
We’re exited to present some great examples that Lise has shared with us today for our “Decorating on a Dime” series. The following items were transformed by repurposing for reuse. We hope you enjoy these!
Accent Piece: This console table was an ugly stained wood and had a number of bumps and bruises when I purchased it at a yard sale. Today it is truly beautiful and is painted a lovely bone.
Theme Based: This dining/kitchen table came from an estate sale. It was originally copper and rod iron base. Although lovely, it didn’t match the light fixture in the room I was intending for it’s purpose. Out came the bone paint again for the base and I then used a tin color for the top which really pulled the fabric from the light shade together with the table nicely. For an added touch I painted the brown wood legs on the chairs to match the base of the table and voila a seamless and cohesive look that is pleasing to the eye.
Accent Piece: From a yard sale came the oriental table found here between the two chairs. The original color was a bright red. The tin color I used for the kitchen table top was color I painted this piece with. A soft and airy look is what I feel this accent table adds to this sitting room.
Accent Piece: From the same photograph of the sitting room the hutch on the right was obtained at the same yard sale and was originally a dark brown like the rod iron front. I painted it bone to match the other colors in the room which ultimately created a designer look in the space.
Theme Based: This picture frame needed almost no work or changes to it at all. The only thing I added was the picture within the frame. I cut it out of a magazine I already owned so essentially, it didn’t cost anything to add the art work.
