Brooklyn knows how to create jobs and new marketplaces. The Northside Flea Market is a new handmade and homemade crafts-oriented market that is making it’s home on Kent Avenue on the Williamsburg waterfront. Alex Sussman and Justin Look are the creators behind the new market which will be home to more than 30 vendors. The market will be open on weekends beginning in late June and will provide shoppers a new attraction for crafts and snacks.
According to one interview, Sussman says he “isn’t worried about the competition.” “It doesn’t hurt to have the other markets in the area — every market is different,” said Sussman. “We’re going to keep it to the new, homemade, and handmade as opposed to vintage items — and if we do vintage, it will be more reworked pieces, not second-hand items.”
The vendors each bring their own eclectic style to the marketplace and will be selling jewelry, art, handbags and clothing. The founders say one of the biggest attractions to the new market will be it’s food.
The Northside Market is located at Kent Avenue & N. Sixth Street in Williamsburg.
