Hello from the sunny Phoenix, AZ “Metropolis”! Of course this area is known for being the “Valley of the Sun” and as we locals are fond of saying, “It’s a dry heat, but so is your oven and you wouldn’t want to live in your oven…would you?” Thankfully, it’s October now and we’re all enjoying the fact that we survived another summer.
Glendale Pawn and Jewelry has recently launched a major online marketing effort that has involved a brand new e-commerce website, revised social media presence and a new blog that has become the foundation of our Internet presence. In undertaking this new marketing effort we took a look at what other pawn shops were doing, did some serious market analysis, called in some “experts” to give us some wise counsel and then came to the conclusion that none of this was going to work for us.
Quite simply we just couldn’t be anyone other than who we are and just being “Who we are” has worked for over 25 years now and shows no sign of dissipating. We’re all about taking care of our customers, helping people, giving back to the community and respecting each other. So when some people who are admittedly much smarter than us advised us to jump on the proverbial bandwagon and blog about the immensely popular show Pawn Stars, we decided to join in the fun. Now Pawn Stars, which seems to run continuously on The History Channel, has spawned the never ending question of, “Is Glendale Pawn and Jewelry anything like Pawn Stars?” To respond to all of the Pawn Stars hoopla, we did a blog posting which essentially asked the question, “Who would you rather hang out with?” (Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars or Stan Grossman, Owner of Glendale Pawn and Jewelry)?
Of course Stan was determined to be more fun to hang out with…primarily because he has much better hair than Rick Harrison. With the current and seemingly never-ending recession, much of the population is having severe issues with having cash available for urgent needs such as an unexpected car repair (Are car repairs ever expected?), sudden trips to the doctor or any one of hundreds of scenarios. We like to make sure that our current and future customers know that we are real people who genuinely care. Perhaps the popularity of our humorous approach to blogging stems from people being quite exhausted from dealing with what seems to be an unending supply of terrible news that is fed to us daily from the media. Who knows? Maybe people enjoy a break from the usual? We’re just being the only people we know how to be…who we are.
