A Tag Sale, best described as a domestic sale of second-hand items, has various other titles including yard sale, garage sale, junk sale, and general moving sale. Tag sales have been around for decades. Prior to the launch of the internet, second-hand items were always bought and sold in person at tag sales, flea markets or auctions. As the World Wide Web grew in the past 10 years, so did the selling of secondhand goods over the internet on such sites as eBay, Craigslist, and even more recently, Tagsellit.com.
A tag sale (or any name variation as mentioned above) is a collection of a myriad amount of items, with individual tags or stickers the seller has placed on each item with a slight markup to set a starting point for negotiating. Tag sales are typically all-cash transactions and safer that way for sellers.
Virtual tag sales work almost identical to physical tag sales except thousands of buyers have access to view items over the internet and can email the seller offers. The seller has the advantage of national exposure for their items, the opportunity to sell things over a period of time and manage the sale from any internet connection. In addition, sellers who don’t have the ability to host a physical sale, this is the best and most successful alternative.
