One of the best ways to ensure a large turnout for a tag sale is to organize a community wide or neighborhood wide yard sale. You’ll first want to see if your city/town has any restrictions or ordinances before you begin to plan things, but a solid alternative would be to see if your local church or community center would get involved by hosting it, and in return offer a percentage of profits to them for charity functions or just to support that institution. Community sales are not difficult to coordinate as long as you have an organized leader in charge who gets the proper approval and makes a solid effort in designating space, tables, creating signs and buzz about the event.
There are many benefits as well, more people will be drawn to a larger event because they know there will be many more items to browse than the stoop sale someone may be having that day. Also, depending on the weather, may institutions that typically have an annual community sale also have the capacity to hold an event indoors if the weather is poor. Lastly, the best way to stand out and get your items noticed is to create a “featured” table that you run. Organize all your items just as you would at your own home yard sale and feature the valuable items so they stand out. Remember, you want to sell your stuff and there’s no better way than designing a table with some bright poster board and creative writing to attract buyers!
