You’ve heard the term but do you know what it means or how it works? It’s a free-for-all of unwanted items left by the curbside on the street by neighbors. Some towns and cities have ordinances about putting bulk “trash” on the curb while others allow you to do so one day per week for the waste management professionals to come pick up, and they generally charge a fee of up to $25 dollars for the pick up and disposing of the curbside leftovers.
Curb alerts are hugely popular among college students, this is a quick, easy and cheap way to furnish a frat house, dorm room or off campus apartment. Everything from lamps to couches and small tables can be picked up for free. Many items left for curb side shoppers are great bargains and creative people who shop for them sometimes make a hobby of it by fixing the broken items, restoring furniture or rewiring electrical appliances. All this is a free and easy way (for those who know how) to make a nice profit on the resale of the items. Once again, one person’s curbside “trash” is another persons treasure!
