If Interior Designers can furnish a home with garage sale finds then you should have few excuses for buying some of these great items secondhand:
You might not think it at first, but you can score some pretty awesome bargains on hardware, including tools at garage sales, especially if you pick up items in the “off season.” Maybe you just need a random coffee can full of nuts and bolts or you might find a box of unopened nails just the size you’re looking for. As long as you don’t see any rust or damage, these items can still be put to good use.
If you’re shopping garage sales during the summer, consider picking up a gently used snow shovel at the next sale, or perhaps even a snow blower that might just need a seasonal tune-up. Such finds could save you money rather than waiting until peak season to buy these items new in stores.
Tools are also great items to pick up at tag sales. New homeowners can pick up shovels, rakes, buckets and gardening items, all secondhand, and put them to good use.
Some uncommon suggestions of other items that you can buy secondhand for around the home and yard:
- Bird feeders
- Flowers, hanging planters, pots
- Trash bins/buckets for recycling
- Recycled milk crates for storage
- Winter snow reflectors for your driveway
- Holiday lights
