Tag sale and flea market shopping is a popular and sometimes very profitable hobby. Here are some recent success stories of new found treasures from our Facebook Fans and Twitter followers:
“I found a gold watch for 50 cents at a small flea market. It was in a box with old and broken jewelry and was covered with a dirty film. It did not look like gold at all.
I cleaned it up and took it to a local jewelery store to replace the battery. That was all that was wrong with it! The case and band is 14K gold. The jeweler estimated it’s value when new was around $450.00. I was very excited about this find!”
“I’d say probably the Victorian alabaster lamp I got for $20. I see these same lamps in antique shops for SO much more.”
“I bought a nearly brand new Toyota Avalon with 3K miles at an Estate Sale.”
“My best find was at a Thrift Store. I bought a used word game for $1.00 and it contained seven Chinese textiles, including a hand embroidered wedding collar that was part of a dowery. I had that appraised by an Asian art specialist who said it was worth $500.00.”
“I found a new sheathed Wusthoff chef knife for $1.00 and sold it on Ebay for $90.”
